Counting the Omer

Hi Mel,
I read with great interest the article on the Count of the Omer. However I agree with his count but the one putting it together has no idea when the Feast of Unleavened Bread actually starts. The Feast started on April 2 , 2018, this year so counting April 3 as the first day, makes the Feast of Pentecost/Weeks/Oaths fall on May 22.
Exodus chapter 12 requires us to look for the new moon in the time of the green ears of barley and that was sighted on the evening of March 18 thus making April 1 the preparation day and April 2 the first Feast Day. Actually since Yahweh’s days begin and end at sunset, the Feast started at sunset on April 1.
The arguement that counting from the 15th of Aviv/Abib/Nissan would always put Pentecost on the 5th/6th of Sivan is foolishness because there is no way that the new month is sighted on the exact same number of days each month each year. The months can be 28, 29 or 30 days long even though it is actually 29 1/4 days long. This is why Scripture tells us that no man knows the day or the hour of the return of the Messiah.
Also the arguement used that Pentecost always falls on a Sunday is wrong because if the people can not eat of the new grain until the wave offering on the weekly Sabbath then they may have to go throught the whole Feast without any unleavened bread from the new grain such as would have happened this year since the weekly Sabbath was the next to last day of the Feast. People seem to forget that the First High Holy Day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread is an annual day that can fall on any day of the week just like most of the pagan holidays do.
You can pass this along to the author of the email Counting the Omer so that he can pray and have the Spirit of Yahweh guide him into the truth on the acurate count. I am no expert on all of the Scriptures but I have studied a lot about the Holy Days and how to count them out to observe the correct day. After all, Exodus 31:13-17 tells us that by Observing the Sabbaths (both weekly and annual) that is how Yahweh seals his people for the end time. If we don’t keep the correct day then how can we be sealed to be protected??
