OTL: No Surprise Black Friday Deals for EDC

Unfortunately for the Ravens, there will be no Black Friday deals on acquiring players this late into the season:
The #Dolphins have elected not to activate pass-rusher Shaq Barrett off the reserve/retired list, which means he will not play for Miami this season, per source.

Let me just get this out of the way: no matter what happened, Shaq Barrett wasn’t going to be a Raven. This situation is messy and goes beyond the Ravens, but he would probably have gone to Philadelphia. The whole thing is a huge miss. Barrett signed his deal last offseason, then retired to focus on his family back during training camp. Considering what had happened with the tragic death of Barrett’s daughter the previous year, this was understandable. We had heard last week that Barrett wanted to come back and play in the NFL and un-retire, Gronk-style. The problem was that one Miami still owned his rights, yet he didn’t want to play for the Dolphins. He didn’t even tell the Dolphins properly, so he tried to come back, instead choosing to do it through the media. The Dolphins have a right to their players, and Barrett wouldn’t even be a Raven so it’s time to move on because there will be no black Friday deals here for EDC.
As for guys who ARE on the Ravens…
Rookie cornerback T.J. Tampa was designated to return from IR and began his three-week window. He provides depth at CB and can contribute on special teams, and many in the Flock are high on his potential future in Baltimore.
Also designed for return is Micheal Pierce, and while it would be great to have him in the middle with Saquon Barkley coming to town, it’s unlikely he is ready to go this week. Also, that’s two straight practices missed for KVN – let’s hope we see him as LIMITED at worst today. Speaking of stopping Barkley, Roquan Smith was again limited, while Travis Jones DNP. More to keep an eye out for as we get our reports from One Winning Drive in a bit.
This is setting up to be quite the showdown on Sunday, and personally, I can’t wait to see how it goes.
